2 Provided new territory for the development of golf courses.
3 Banned golf (she liked bowls cf Sir Francis Drake and the Armada)
4 French king cheated at golf. War was inevitable.
5 Act of parliament requiring toleration of golf. Elizabeth's ban overturned.
