Like, say if I wanted to use store bought pillows and re-design them into something else, patent the design and sell the re-created product that now has a new use. (just an example, not really what I have in mind) Could I get sued by the pillow manufacturer? Or can I just do it since I'm designing it into something else? |

![]() | I don't think you'd get sued. You would run into trouble if you took their design and duplicated it in china and sold it. This leads to my other answer to your question. If they are manufacturing and selling this product for a profit, what is keeping you from having someone manufacture something similar for your needs. This should lower your costs substantially. |
