Default Freelance copywriting?

Don't know anyone personally to ask. I'd like to know what does a freelance copywriter do on a daily basis. I know that it's creating advertising and brochures and stuff for people. But I can't seem to visualize the daily work and gathering clients when everything I read says that one can work at home. Is there a lot of pavement pounding and handshaking going on? What computer software would I need to be familiar with? I am researching career options for when I get out of the Navy next Feb. If anyone can enlighten me to this type of work I appreciate it.

From the book "Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars" by Mitch Meyerson, I found these links for you. Hope it helps.

You'll probably get a good answer here soon from a copywriter, but in the meantime, poke around this website: www.mediabistro.org (or .com if .org doesn't work). It's a really easy but comprehensive site that provides articles and lots of seminar and workshop listings, usually at very reasonable prices (e.g. less than $100).

Also, you need to get in touch with people for informational interviews. Try your school's alumni office to see if they can help you connect with alumni in this field, or at least advise you on how to approach them.
