Is duplicate press release content bad for SEO?

Yes, Duplicate content is 100% bad for SEO, if it may be press release, article, blog or a web page content. Google is constantly working against content farmer. Recently Google has updated it's Farmer algorithm to avoid duplication and it affect many high PR sites. Majority of sites are e-commerce and content farm sites. So don't be duplicate and try to write original or unique content.

yes, press release mean new and informative information for a company or product , if you are positing the same information again and again visitors will not notice this resulting not attraction for visitors to your niche.

Press release means that new and updates information of your business or company you going to release for people. So the new and updates means some change in the previous and this change data is not going to be the copied. So there is no chance of the duplicate content in press release and if so then it will not called as the press release.
And duplicate content in any method is the bad and affect negatively to the site.

From an infringement standpoint, creating a video while reading copyrighted content is textbook copyright infringement. It's possible that your educational use amounts to fair use. Even if it's not fair use, it's also possible that your use is so limited that the copyright holder would not pursue any legal action against you.

By contrast, what does Google says about Duplicate Content on the same page?

1. “However, in some cases, content is deliberately duplicated across domains in an attempt to manipulate search engine rankings or win more traffic. Deceptive practices like this can result in a poor user experience, when a visitor sees substantially the same content repeated within a set of search results.”

2. “Duplicate content on a site is not grounds for action on that site unless it appears that the intent of the duplicate content is to be deceptive and manipulate search engine results.”

3. “In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we’ll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved.”

My advice is don’t try to manipulate Google’s ranking algorithm. Always has been.

White-hat SEO your sites. Use high-quality Syndicated Content, Original Content (or both) to build website content and to build links.

But don’t manipulate Google, using Black-hat techniques and violating Google’s Terms of Use

Their is no point in press releasing if the content is duplicate as, Google will not only mark it as plagiarism and it will also create a bad impact for your website.

it's better to write the press release yourself, submit the press release to any press release directory of choice, and once the press release is published, write a small commentary on your website or blog, with only to read more about your published press release. Be mindful that your commentary is unique content, and not a copy and paste from your published press release. This will help you get potential better search engine optimization.

Yes it can be bad for a website. Press release is a news about new updates of a website or company. You cant produce same news all times as it is an illegal practice. Alway post some press release with some fresh news about your company or website. It will be far more better for you.
