![]() | I recently bought my friend a licensed shirt over Ebay and the picture of the shirt was very clearly purple. But I got a horrible grey colour one instead. So I emailed the seller back asking if I could just exchange it. Then he sent me a horrible email saying that I was attacking him and everything he stood for as a seller on Ebay?! Ever encountered something similar and how do I avoid it in the future? Thanks |

![]() | I've only had one problem and that was with an item of computer equipment i bought it was a laptop and the item i got sent had a different (worse) spec to the one i had been led to believe in the listing i was getting when i got it, it had a fault in it and never came with the free case i was promised so i called the company and they claimed they never had any of what i'd bought i was angry they collected the machine after several weeks and daily calls to check progress they sent a replacement i left nasty justified feedback and as a bribe to get me to change it they gave me a free iPod Nano 3rd gen i changed it but they still wern't happy from that experience i'm never buying another computer off eBay again |

![]() | Not personally, but my mother bought an expensive digital camera off of someone on Ebay and got nothing. No recourse was taken against the seller, and his pristine record is still intact as far as I know. The lesson I've learned from this: keep a certain amount of mistrust when you make deals over the internet, never send large amounts of money anywhere you couldn't drive to in a day, never ship expensive items overseas or pay for these things to be shipped to you, and only resort to Ebay if you absolutely need a specific, hard-to-find item and it is your last hope of finding it. |

![]() | First off - did you keep the email - that needs to be forwarded to ebay TOS. You can go to the myebay page and look for the link that says - report a problem or security and resolution. Harrassing via email or feedback is not tolerated well by ebay. On the report a problem page, it is escalated to ebay, and they will work with the seller to try and resolve the problem. If an agreement can't be reached it can be escalated to paypal for a forced refund. It takes time, but is fairly easy to do. As far as avoiding problems in the future - you can always aska question of a seller before buying, purchase insurance, and only bid/buy when you are satisfied that the item is exactly what you want. I have had problems, but comparatively few per transactions - done ebay since 1999, and can think of 3 of several thousand transactions that stand out as really bad experiences. Best of luck to you - and feel free to email me - I am happy to walk people through the process - timing is everything and it must be followed to qualify with ebay and paypal policies for buyer protection. |
