Default I've tried IE 8 twice over the last few weeks and both times I've had trouble...

...using my Yahoo bookmarks.? When I click "save this page" I get a message that Windows has to shut down. Does anyone know anyway around this. Thank you very much
Twice over the last couple of days I've tried System Restore to get back to my old 7. Both times I couldn't get online so both times I reversed it. The first time I went to a link someone gave me to download 7 back in. When I tried to do this it was downloading but then stopped and a message came up that said it couldn't continue because there was another system already there.

I'm in a quandry. 8 isn't working. I want 7 back. System Restore works except then I can not get online.

I can't redownload 7 because it keeps stopping in the middle and saying there is already a system in place.

I'm pretty pc illiterate - obviously or I would probably know what to do about this. If some kind person would be willing to walk me thru correcting this and getting 7 back I will say a hundred blessings on your head.

There is no way around it at the moment. IE8 is still in beta stage and Yahoo hasn't caught up yet - it also doesn't work with other Yahoo sites - if you go to the game section for instance, you will see a notification from Yahoo that certain games will not work with IE8; it is still a problem that they are working on to make all of their sites - and certain services such as bookmarks, compatible with IE8.

Edit: I am signed up to a site called "The Code Project" (it is a computer programmer's site) and I receive daily newsletters from them. In one of their newsletters it advised people not to install IE8 because once installed, it could not be uninstalled and that you would not be able to install an earlier version such as IE7 or IE6, as was the case previously. If you installed IE8, that was it and you are stuck with it; that is why I never installed IE8. Unfortunately, Microsoft has chosen not to generally inform the public of this fact.

My home page is Yahoo and Yahoo is urging people to install IE8; I think that is unfortunate because a lot of sites are not compatible with IE8 at this point in time. You will just have to hang in there until everyone catches up and all of the kinks are worked out. I'm sorry this happened to you and it is this kind of behaviour from Microsoft that angers so many people. I have downloaded some updates from Microsoft that have almost destroyed my computer. I now have my automatic updates turned off; I now go the Windows Update site and manually pick and choose any patches or updates that I want to have on my computer.
