The installed digital tuners on the new LCD tv's do not have these capabilities for timing and such. I still want the digital signal, so converting it to analog on my converter box would be silly. does the DTV pal converter box have a digital output? Is there another solution?

You can get the DTV PAL DVR. It has component/HDMI out I believe.

Most digital TVs should have an EPG of some sort. I would never find the utility in automatically changing channels when I am viewing, and If I am recording, I'd untie an external box anyways.
