Default getting perl to call and run another perl program.?

is there a way I can get my Perl "program1.pl" to call and run "program2.pl" and still run so they are both running at the same time?

You don't tell us what OS you're on, so I'll give you the easiest answer.

You want to do a fork to create two instances of the program1, and then an exec to replace (one) with program2.
